Another Day, Another Milestone

Sigh. There's my little baby, getting ready to board to school bus to take him to his first day of Kindergarten. He didn't seem nervous at all, just excited--which is great! He climbed onto the bus hand in hand with his little neighbor-friend Grace, then before we knew it they were swallowed up and being driven away. It's funny, I haven't felt teary about it at all--up until this morning. It definitely hit waiting for the bus with him. Dad and big sister were there, too, so it was a family affair. Wow, 40 and sending the last one off to Big School. Craziness.

Here's my attempt at Susie Homemaker. I made one of these school bus cakes for Vivian when she started Kindergarten, too. Why is it that they never turn out the way they look in the magazine?! Of course for someone like Rosemarie, I'm sure they do....but alas, not for me. One definitely needs the right materials, and the black frosting that was like mud and impossible to squeeze out of the tube or the runny black gel that drips and smears everything definitely don't help. Ah well, Sullivan certainly won't see those imperfections. Besides, it's very Metal Mommy, don't you think? Sweet, but Twisted. :-)

Litlle Sully! Adorable. And nice job on the cake, you ARE Susie Homemaker! And yet, still metal...
